Police on Friday released the names of the three motorists who were injured — one fatally — in Wednesday’s collision involving a car and a garbage truck.
Tatiana Vedentsova, 41, a passenger in the car, died at Hartford Hospital after the crash. The driver, Pavel Kovalchuk, 33, was seriously injured but is expected to survive. Both are from Moscow, Russia, and were in Connecticut on business, police said.
The garbage truck driver, Ali Hassan Murphy, 36, sustained a minor injury. The truck is owned by Windsor Sanitation.
The collision happened at Bloomfield Avenue, or Route 305, and Brewster Road shortly before 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, the day of a snow and ice storm. Capt. Thomas LePore said police are investigating whether the slick roads played a role in the crash, which appeared to be head-on.
Officers from a regional accident reconstruction team continue to investigate. Anyone with information about the collision, or what preceded it, is asked to call Windsor police at 860-688-5273, ext. 546.
