An 8-inch water main broke Sunday night in near zero temperatures in West Hartford, leaving eight homes on Tunxis Road without water for several hours.
Metropolitan District Commission crews were at the scene soon after the 8 p.m. report of the break, and completed repairs by about 3 a.m., MDC spokesman Kerry Martin said.
The main was installed in 1929, according to Martin. Homes on Tunxis Avenue from Ridgewood to Cornell roads were affected.
It was not immediately clear what caused the line to fail.
