A car crashed into a utility pole, knocking it over and subsequently taking out power for hundreds in West Hartford Wednesday night, police said.
The driver of the car was transported to a hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries, Sgt. Brian Cantele said. The car rolled over and was resting on its roof when police arrived, Sgt. Brett Balisciano said. As of Thursday morning, the driver — who police have not identified — was at Hartford Hospital with minor injuries, Balisciano said.
The incident happened at the intersection of South Main Street and New Britain Avenue about 9 p.m.
About 750 Eversource customers were initially reported to have lost power, according to the company’s outage map. By mid-day Thursday, no outages were being reported.
South Main Street reopened Thursday morning after remaining closed between New Britain Avenue and Enfield Street Wednesday night, Balisciano said.
