A 15-year-old bicyclist was seriously injured when he and a car collided Tuesday, police said.
The collision happened at the intersection of Hall and Federal streets about 7:45 a.m.
According to Capt. Jeff Rose, the teen was headed north on Federal Street when he pedaled through a stop sign and collided with a Nissan Altima traveling east on Hall Street.
The driver stopped and cooperated with police, Rose said. The boy was taken to Hartford Hospital and transferred to the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center to be treated for head trauma.
More than three hours after the collision, officers remained in the quiet neighborhood investigating. Close to a dozen evidence markers sat in the road near where the blue bicycle lay, its tire bent.
Police said they will provide another update either later Tuesday or Wednesday.
