A man and a woman were arrested after their 2-year-old son was found wandering around a Stratford neighborhood before dawn, police said Wednesday.
Thomas Yemm, 62, and Wendy Canfield, 51, both of Stratford, were charged with risk of injury to a minor, they said. They are scheduled to appear in Superior Court in Bridgeport on Oct. 18.
According to police, a jogger found the toddler “wandering the streets” Friday at 6:30 a.m. — when it was still dark out. A neighbor took the child inside to keep him safe until police arrived.
“According to neighbors interviewed, this was not the first time the child had wandered off,” Capt. Frank Eannotti said.
Workers with the state Department of Children and Families took custody of the boy, he said.
