A 22-year-old man was killed barely three hours into the new year when his car crashed just south of the Trinity College campus.
Police on Tuesday said the man was Hector Rios-Acevedo of Hillside Avenue in Hartford. His passenger, who was injured but is expected to survive, was Natasha Cruz, 21.
Details were still sketchy, but Hartford police said they’d determined that a 12 year old had been in the car was but taken to a hospital before police arrived.
Deputy Chief Brian Foley said Monday that none of the victims appear to be Trinity students or staff.
Police were called to Summit Street and New Britain Avenue at 3:13 a.m. They found the driver trapped in the wreckage, and firefighters arrived to free him.
The 12-year-old had already been transported to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, but police haven’t said who took the child there.
