Man Fatally Stabbed In New London, Police Said

Police are making progress in their investigation of a fatal stabbing on Sunday, Capt. Brian Wright said Monday.

First responders went to a home in the area of Grand and Elm streets about 2:30 p.m. Sunday and found a man with stab wounds lying inside, police said. The man was given medical attention and rushed to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

He has been identified as Travon Brown, 27, police said. He didn’t live where he was stabbed; his last known address was on Blackhall Street in New London.

City detectives and the New London State’s Attorney’s office responded to investigate the homicide. Anyone with information about it is asked to call the department’s detective division at 860-447-1481. Anonymous information may be submitted via the New London Tips 411 system by texting NLPDTip, plus the information, to Tip411 (847411).

It was the second fatal stabbing in New London in a week. On Dec. 10, Robert Pomerleau died after being stabbed in a building on Tilley Street, police said.

Wright said the cases are not related.

Sunday’s stabbing was the fourth homicide this year in the city of less than 30,000, he said.
