Manchester Police Seize Marijuana 'Gummies'

A man caught with gummy candies containing concentrated THC said he planned to give them away as holiday presents, police said.

Jaunleomar Hernandez-Cruz, 28, of 138 Keeney St., was arrested on Saturday on charges that included possession of marijuana and possession with intent to sell.

Hernandez-Cruz failed to stop for a stop sign at Keeney and Hackmatack streets at about 6:30 p.m. and was pulled over, Officer Jason Moss wrote in a report. Marijuana seeds, stems and flakes could be seen throughout the vehicle, Moss wrote.

Hernandez-Cruz said he gets THC oils and marijuana from a legal dispensary in Hartford and he had a card showing he was allowed to possess 2.5 ounces of marijuana, the report said

However, a search of the vehicle turned up 16 bags containing 10 THC gummy bears in each, Moss wrote. Total weight of the edibles, with packaging, was 23.8 ounces, he wrote. Also found were vaporizing pens and cartridges containing THC oils, Moss wrote.

Hernandez-Cruz said he bought the oils and edibles from a corner store in Hartford because the dispensary charged too much and intended to give them to friends for the holidays, the report said.

He was released without having to post bail and is due in Superior Court in Manchester on Jan. 9.
