A driver who hit a 22-year-old pedestrian and then left the scene Monday night turned himself in on Tuesday, police said.
The victim, Christopher Rickert of Manchester, was in Hartford Hospital’s intensive-care unit on Tuesday. The man who turned himself in was cooperating with police and the investigation is continuing, Sgt. Stephen Bresciano said. Police did not release the driver’s name, and no charges had been filed.
Officers responding to North Street at about 6 p.m. after reports that a pedestrian had been hit found Rickert unconscious and unresponsive. The driver of the vehicle that struck Rickert left tbefore officers arrived, Bresciano said. A witness said the vehicle was a tan or brown, older model SUV.
Police ask that anyone with information about the incident call the traffic unit at 860-533-8651.
