Teen Wanted For Crimes Arrested Following Chase Into Hartford

A 17-year-old with two outstanding warrants and a 19-year-old man were arrested in Hartford on Sunday after leading West Hartford officers on a chase in a stolen car into the city, police said.

Those inside the stolen car, two adults and the juvenile, had possibly been involved in several robberies in West Hartford and one that had just occurred in Hartford, police said. They added that several robbery investigations are still underway.

The victim in the Hartford incident said an armed suspect attempted to rob him near Enfield and Greenfield streets. The victim, a 53-year-old Bloomfield man, fled in a car and went to a West Hartford firehouse to call the police, police said.

West Hartford police found the suspected vehicle and followed it into Hartford, where it was seen stopping in the rear of 232 Westland St., police said. The three suspects attempted to run from police but were caught by officers, police said.

A 17-year-old from Hartford was charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree criminal attempted robbery, interfering with police and possession of cannabis substance. Additionally, the juvenile had two warrants for his arrest for involvement in two separate August incidents, police said.

In an Aug. 7 incident, police said the juvenile was one of three who robbed a victim on Cabot Street while putting a gun to the victim’s head. A warrant signed by Juvenile Superior Court in September charged the juvenile with first-degree robbery and second-degree larceny, police said.

On Aug. 30, police patrolling the area on Kent Street found a male victim lying on the sidewalk with gunshot wounds to his shoulder, back and foot, police said. The victim said a male shot him after he refused to sell him marijuana. Police said they identified the juvenile as the suspected shooter during an investigation.

A warrant was obtained charging the juvenile with home invasion, first-degree burglary, first-degree robbery, first-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment and unlawful discharge.

Police said the juvenile was turned over to the Juvenile Detention Center.

Deshawn Fitzpatrick, 19, of East Hartford was charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree criminal attempted robbery, reckless driving, engaging police in pursuit, third-degree larceny, evading responsibility, second-degree criminal mischief and interfering with police.

A 44-year-old man, who was also in the car, was released pending further investigation, police said. His name was not released.
