It all started when plainclothes officers from Vice, Intelligence & Narcotics were conducting surveillance in the area of Wethersfield Avenue Sunday, police said. Detectives spotted a red Honda Accord on Annawan Street that they believed had been involved in an incident where shots were fired.
Police from three different divisions of the department converged on the area and stopped the car, detaining an occupant who turned out to be a missing juvenile. Other male suspects fled, according to police. One of them ran south toward Wayland Street, where police later found him leaving an apartment building. A search of the apartment he had walked out of turned up a stolen pistol and marijuana, police said.
That suspect, Michael Calle, 21, of Kane Street in West Hartford, was charged with possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to sell and operating a drug factory, police said.
He was in custody on $200,000 bail at the Hartford Correctional Center after his court arraignment Monday, records show.
His next court date is scheduled for Dec. 6.
