A woman who admitted throwing a small dog against a wall “as hard as she could” faces a criminal charge, Glastonbury police said.
Lindsay M. Anderson, 25, of Sherman Road was arrested about 8:50 p.m. Nov. 14. Police responded to her home on a report of a drunken woman who badly beat a dog, they said.
When officers arrived, they found a small Chihuahua with a swollen eye, a cut to its sternum area, and severe bruising throughout its entire underbelly and joints, police said. A medical evaluation showed that the dog also appeared to have burn marks.
When police talked to Anderson, who they believed was responsible, she “admitted to picking up the dog and throwing it against a wall, as hard as she could,” police said in a release.
She was charged with cruelty to animals and was released on a promise to appear in Superior Court in Manchester on Wednesday, police said.
She is not the owner of the dog, which survived, Sgt. Corey Davis said.
