Making Strides

The American Cancer Society sponsors Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, including seven events in Connecticut. The walks are on Oct. 15 at Lighthouse Point Park (Greater New Haven) and Sherwood Island State Park (Westport); on Oct. 22 at White Memorial Conservation Center (Litchfield), Rocky Neck State Park (East Lyme), and Seaside Park-Casino Bath House (Bridgeport); and on Oct. 29 at Bushnell Park (Greater Hartford) and Library Park (Greater Waterbury). The noncompetitive, 3- to 5-mile walks are held in about 300 communities around the country to celebrate people who have battled breast cancer, to raise money for research and to help educate people on how to reduce the risk.
