Due to what is being described as "unforeseen circumstances," Papa Roach will not perform Tuesday night at Rock The Rapids.
“It was sad, we saw them before and they put on a great show,” Tyler Vandenavond, a Papa Roach fan said.
Tyler and his friend Glenn bought their tickets for the Rock the Rapids about a month ago. Both are huge fans of the band and were disappointed when they heard the band canceled.
“I was bummed, we wanted to see them for the last four or five years now. I finally got the chance, and now it's over,” Glenn Miller said.
Tyler says he heard the bands lead singer was having a problem with his voice.
“It sucks for Jacoby, because he has such a great voice. He has to stay out for such a long time to get his voice back,” Vandenavond said.
No one with the event would say why the band pulled out, but organizers quickly found a replacement with P.O.D.
“You’ll probably hear some booing here and there, and P.O.D. might not get as big of an entrance as they hoped they would. But once Staind and Godsmack hit the stage, it’ll be crazy once again,” Vandenavond said.
“The crowd, they’ll be booing like Tyler said, but I don’t think it won’t be that big of a difference. We are at a rock show, we are going to have fun regardless,” Miller said.
P.O.D. is joining Godsmack, Shinedown, Staind, and Adelitas Way for the show. Tyler and Glenn says while they’re disappointed about the cancellation, they are still excited to see the other bands.
“This lineup is fantastic. It’s one of the best lineups I’ve ever seen,” Vandenavond said.
The band has been part of the Rockstar Energy Drink UPROAR Festival, which filled the Tuesday night lineup of Rock The Rapids, the downtown Grand Rapids non-profit music festival.
The rest of the Tuesday night lineup remains intact: Shinedown, Godsmack, Staind, and Adelitas Way.
