Midland Republican Announces Run for Attorney General
Another Republican has thrown his hat into the ring, hoping to become Michigan's next attorney general.

Announcing his candidacy today, Bill Schuette made several campaign stops across the state, including one in Grand Rapids. The Republican from Midland has served in the Michigan Senate and was a congressman in the U.S. House. He has also served as a judge on the Michigan Court of Appeals.

At today's news conference, Schuette took aim at the Granholm administration, saying its policies, including a plan to house Guantanamo Bay prisoners in Michigan, threatened security.

Candidates for attorney general will be picked next year at state party conventions.
