Drunken Boater Arrested Shortly After Midnight In Van Buren County
An Indiana man was arrested for drunken boating on a Van Buren County lake shortly after midnight.

At 12:30 a.m. Sunday, the Van Buren County Sheriff's Department Marine Division was on patrol on Gravel Lake when deputies made contact with a 27-year-old South Bend, Ind., man who was operating a 1994 Malibu 22-foot pleasure boat containing five additional passengers. The deputies found the boat operator to be under the influence of alcohol and arrested him for operating while intoxicated.

The man is being held in the Van Buren County Jail and his identity is being withheld pending arraignment in court.

The boat and passengers were taken safely to a dock.

The investigation has been turned over to the Van Buren County Prosecutor's Office.
