Volunteers From West Michigan To Help Hurricane Cleanup
Disaster response volunteers planned to leave Byron Center and head for North Carolina to help cleanup from Hurricane Irene.

Volunteers from the Christian Reformed World Relief Committee, an arm of the Christian Reformed Church in North America based in Grand Rapids, are already on site coordinating with local and federal officials in Swanquarter, North Carolina, on Pamlico Sound.

The group will help people whose homes and businesses were damaged by Irene.

More volunteers plan to leave next week as the organization's planners head north into other states affected by the storm, including Virginia, New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.
