Hurricane break camps: Where to take the kids

Hurricane Irma knocked schools out, but one-day camps are being offered to rescue parents who need to work — without their kids — during the break.

Camp C By Me art camp is open Thursday and Friday at 4624 Hollywood Blvd., Suite 203, in Hollywood. Sessions are 9 a.m. to noon ($25), noon to 3 p.m. ($25) and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. ($50). Campers should bring lunch. Games and crafts are welcome. Discounts are available. The C By Me website is down, so call or text Jessica at 305-725-9562.

Miami Children's Museum, 980 MacArthur Causeway, will have special one-day camps Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. for children ages 4 to 10 (5th grade). Cost is $54-$60. Contact Alexandra at aakshar@miamichildrensmuseum.org or 305-373-5437.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County will be open Thursday and Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. for children ages 6-18. Members and nonmembers are welcome, but parents of nonmember children will need to fill out a form and show government-issued ID during drop-off and pick-up. Lunch will be served to the campers. The South Florida Science Center and Aquarium, 4801 Dreher Trail North in West Palm Beach, will have a Hurricane Break Camp for children ages 4-12 on Thursday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The cost is $45-$50, and spaces will be given on a first-come, first-served basis. Young At Art Museum, 751 SW 121st Ave. in Davie, opened Thursday and will host post-hurricane camps on Thursday and Friday for ages 3-12. Call 954-424-0085. youngatartmuseum.org

ProAm Dance Studio at118 E. McNab Road in Pompano Beach is offering a free Hurricane Camp on Friday. Campers do not need to be students at the studio to attend. Drop-off and pick-up is any time between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Dancing, games and fun, free snacks and a free pizza lunch are included. Parents are welcome to remain in the lobby to charge their devices.
