The Playstation Move is set to be in-stores on September 19, while the Kinect for Xbox 360 is set for November. Both systems show great promise, but which one will be right for you?

The Nintendo Wii was introduced years before its competitors in 2006. Since then it has been a staple in family entertainment in households around the world. The system focuses on children's and family gaming, with games like Wii Sports and Mario Kart Wii. Most games are rated at PG or under, which isolated many gamers who enjoy a more "hardcore" set of titles, which Nintendo has been reluctant to introduce for the Wii. Another downside for this system is the lack of precision in the controller. If you are looking for a family friendly system that is low in cost (the Wii now runs for $299) then this system is for you. However, if you want more motion precision in your gaming, you'll want to look at one of the other two systems.

The Kinect for Xbox 360 is a state of the art full body motion control system. Ahead of its competitors, it has developed a system that no longer needs a controller. The potential for the system is there, but it still has to prove it's worth when it goes to market. It's demographic is similar to that of the Wii, aiming at children and families with games like Kinect Sports and Kinectinals, similar to Nintendogs. However, since the system uses your entire body, it may be more effective than the Wii in getting kids off the couch while playing games. The Kinect add on to the Xbox 360 will cost $199, but make sure to take into account that you must also own the Xbox 360.

The Playstation Move is very similar to the Nintendo Wii in its controller, but don't let its aesthetic similarities fool you. The motion precision of the Move is much better than the Wii. Games like table tennis display it's true-to-life motion detection. This system will also features more hardcore games, for those that enjoy playing games above the PG rating. Overall this system will prove to be worthy of buying if you're willing to pay the price. The Playstation Move solo unit will run $69.95 and you will also need the Playstation 3 console which costs $499.
