Peter W. Butler has been promoted to president of the West Side academic medical center. Butler will remain chief operating officer, a post he has held since 2004. Before that, he was president of Rush North Shore Medical Center. He came to Rush from Methodist Hospital System System in Houston, where he was president and chief executive, and the Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, where he was senior vice president and chief administrative officer. Butler has a Master of Health Services Administration degree from the University of Michigan School of Public Health, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Amherst College.
