The band members, students at HKMS and Madison Country Day School, live in Haddam-Killingworth and range in age from 12-14 years. They played an hour-long set in the school's courtyard to open the event starting at 6:30 p.m. Their set included original compositions and cover music by Pink Floyd, Nirvana, and The Ramones among others. Parents and students sat on the steps of the Courtyard to hear the concert. Students in seventh and eighth grade entered the Spring Fling Dance held in the cafeteria between 7 and 9 p.m.

An "inside-out" design approach at the University of Connecticut integrates interior and building design to create a whole that is more than the sum of its parts. The 19,000 SF renovation and addition at McMahon Dining Hall makes a big impact, offering sophisticated international dining in restaurant-style "display kitchens", new connections to adjacent residential towers, and the vibrant, airy, porch-like feel of a "pavilion in the woods" - all combining to create the hot new gathering spot on campus.
