NEW HAVEN — The U.S. Coast Guard and police divers were in New Haven Harbor Thursday morning after the discovery of a sinking boat.

Someone spotted the partially-submerged, 24-foot-long white Bayliner near Lighthouse Point and reported it at 6:20 a.m., a Coast Guard spokesman said. The Coast Guard searched the area and shoreline but found nothing, he said.

Police dive team members searched inside the boat with the same results, Officer David Hartman said. The New Haven Fire Department also responded.

The Coast Guard learned that the boat was scheduled to be repossessed last year, the Coast Guard spokesman said.
