( January 7, 2013 ) Raymond E. Baldwin was a U.S. Senator from Connecticut and was twice the governor. Born in 1893, Baldwi moved to Middletown in 1903. He graduated from Wesleyan in 1916. Baldwin became governor in 1939 but lost reelection in 1940. He then regained the office from 1943 until 1946. He was elected to the United States Senate in 1946. Baldwin was the first governor to use the Governor's Mansion located on Prospect Avenue in Hartford. |
