DATABASE: School-By-School Search For Weapons Incidents

Of the state’s approximately 1,100 public K-12 schools, 537 reported to the state Department of Education at least one incident involving a weapon during the 2011-2012 school year. Schools not listed in the database reported no incidents.

Be aware that items are defined as weapons by their use and some common items found in schools, such as pens and pencils, are included. Note also that the database identifies only the types of weapons found at a school and not the number of incidents involving any particular category of weapons. Those weapons in the database followed by an asterisk (*) require an expulsion hearing.
