HARTFORD — A city man was arrested Sunday and charged with assaulting a woman.

Eric Peraca-Velasquez was charged with second-degree assault, second-degree threatening and disorderly conduct, police said.

Officers were called to Marion Street at about 10:30 p.m., where they found a woman who had a broken nose, dislodged teeth, lacerations and bruising, police said. She handed officers two live shotgun shells that she told police she took as she was leaving her home.

Hartford police as well as officers from West Hartford and Newington set up a perimeter around the house and evacuated neighbors. Peraca-Velasquez subsequent came out of the building without incident, police said.

No firearm was recovered from the home, police said.
