GLASTONBURY — A tractor trailer crashed on Route 2 during Tuesday's morning commute, dumping about 80,000 pounds of lumber into the center median, state police said.

The mess was still being cleaned up at 1 p.m., and all but one westbound, left lane was open.

Motorists were advised to avoid the area earlier, when more lanes, and even the entire highway, were shut down in the area of exit 8.

No one was injured in the crash, which was reported about 7:40 a.m., police said.

The cleanup effort has been a challenge because the lumber is 30-40 feet down an embankment in the median.
