AVON — Republicans across the state are going to the polls today to choose a candidate for governor and party members in Avon may vote at one of the three polling stations in town.

People who are voting must go to their designated district polling station and information on which one residents should go to is available at the town's website at http://www.town.avon.ct.us/Public_Documents/AvonCT_WebDocs/voting_information.

The polling station for voting district #1 is the gymnasium at Avon High School, located at 510 West Avon Road; that for voting district # 2 is the fire house at 25 Darling Drive while people in the third district go to Roaring Brook School at 30 Old Wheeler Lane and vote in the school's gymnasium.

Voting started at 6 a.m. and goes to 8 p.m. Republicans are choosing between Greenwich business executive Tom Foley and Senate Minority Leader John McKinney to face Democratic Gov. Dannel P. Malloy in the November election. Republicans will also choose a candidate for lieutenant governor.

Only registered Republicans may vote in the party's primary.
