2013 Guide To Farmers' Markets Across The State

Memorial Day marked the unofficial state of summer and the prime growing season for the state of Connecticut. Farmers' markets are beginning to open around the state, which brings an injection of locally grown and produced products into the Connecticut economy.

The farmers' markets below are listed by county:

Fairfield County

Bethel Farmers’ Market
The market is held on Saturdays, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The market opens June 22 to November 2. It is located on Route 6 in Bethel, opposite Stony Hill Inn, at 67 Stony Hill Road.

Downtown Bridgeport Farmers’ Market
The market is held on Thursdays, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. It runs from July 6 to October 31 on Bank Street, adjacent to the McLevy Green.

East End of Bridgeport Farmers’ Market
This market is held on Sundays, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The market runs from July to October. It is located at 985 Stratford Avenue.

Danbury Farmers’ Market
The market is held Fridays, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It runs from June 28 through October 25, at Kennedy Park, located at the corner of Main Street and Kennedy.

Darien Farmers’ Market
The Darien market is held on Wednesdays, between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. The marketplace runs weekly between May 29 and December 18. It is located on Mechanic Street behind the fire house.

Fairfield - Greenfield Hills Farmers’ Market
Held on Saturdays, from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.; this market runs from July to October. It is located on Greenfield Hills, at 1950 Bronson Hill.

Georgetown Farmers’ Market
This market is held on Sundays, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The market runs from June 16 to October 27 on 4 Old Mill Road.

Greenwich Farmers’ Market
The market runs every Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. It begins on May 18  and runs to December 28. The marketplace is located in the parking lot at Horseneck, located on Arch Street.

Monroe Farmers’ Market
The marketplace is held on Fridays, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. It runs from June 14 to October 25. It is located on the Monroe Town Green, which is at the corner of Fan Hill Road and Route 111.

The marketplace is held on Saturdays, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It runs from May 11 to November 23 and is located at Old Center School’s parking lot at the intersection of South Ave and Maple Street.

Newtown Farmers’ Market
The market is held on Tuesdays, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. It begins on June 18 and runs through October 22 at the Fairfield Hills Campus on Wasserman Way.

Norwalk Health Department Farmers’ Market
The market is held on Wednesdays, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. It runs from July 3 to October 30 at the Norwalk Health Dept., located at 137 East Avenue.

Norwalk Rainbow Plaza Farmers’ Market
The market is held on Wednesdays, at 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. It began on May 15 and continues to October 30. The marketplace is located at 205 Main Street.  

Old Greenwich Farmers’ Market
This market is held Wednesdays, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. It began on May 29 and runs through November. The marketplace is located at 38 West End Avenue.

Shelton Farmers’ Market
The market is held on Saturdays, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and on Wednesdays, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. It begins June 15 and concludes November 2. It's located at the Farmers Market Pavilion on the Corner of Cornell and Canal Streets.
