Over the past year, AAI has been in a growth and rebuilding period. The board and new staff have met the challenge to both accomplish our mission in bigger and better ways while creating an organizational culture that is more sustainable. A recent study showed that Asian-Americans are hit hardest by long-term unemployment. The uncertain economy and state budget cuts have been challenging for our partner organizations, many of which are social service agencies. The safety net they are providing for the most vulnerable Asian-Americans is eroding at a time when they most need it, and the population in need of its services is growing.See the original profile that ran Aug. 15, 2011
