The Ferguson Center for the Arts Friday unveiled a set of shows stretching from August into May of next year. Big names include Lyle Lovett, Bela Fleck, Taj Mahal, Steve Miller Band, Blues Traveler, Kenny Loggins and Joan Jett.
There are other surprises on the list, too. Single ticket sales go on sale July 18 from fergusoncenter.org.

Ferguson Center for the Arts Announces 2013-14 Season
Broadway blockbusters, world-famous performing artists and diverse family entertainment will comprise Christopher Newport University's Ferguson Center for the Arts 2013-14 season.
Highlights include exclusive Hampton Roads performances by the Steve Miller Band, Whoopi Goldberg, Lyle Lovett, Kenny Loggins, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, Kenny Rogers, Bela Fleck, Dave Koz, Capitol Steps, Celtic Woman, Natalie Merchant, Blues Traveler, and comedic tour de force Lewis Black.
Broadway productions take center stage with national tour performances of Blue Man Group; Forbidden Broadway: Alive & Kicking!; Hello, Dolly! starring Sally Struthers; Memphis: The Musical; Rock of Ages; and The Broadway Dolls.
Classical offerings include the Vienna Boys Choir, the Irish Chamber Orchestra with guest conductor JoAnn Falletta and soloists Sir James Galway and Lady Jeanne Galway, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra with conductor Pinchas Zukerman, the Haifa Symphony Orchestra of Israel with guest conductor Boguslaw Dawidow, and legendary pianist Peter Nero and his Pops orchestra.
In addition, a new Distinguished Speaker Series has been announced and will feature political couple James Carville and Mary Matalin, historian and Pulitzer Prize-winning biographer Doris Kearns Goodwin, and football legend Terry Bradshaw.
“Through our first eight seasons we presented more than 500 artists covering just about every genre of the performing arts world,” says Executive Director Bill Biddle. “As we launch our ninth season, I have to say that I am just as excited, if not more so, over the quality and talent we are staging. The dynamic nature and variety of performers is second to none and remains consistent with our mission to offer a broad range of performances and reach the largest possible number of community members, while maintaining our status as the finest performing arts center in Hampton Roads.”

Subscription forms can be downloaded on Monday, June 17, at fergusoncenter.org and brought to the Ferguson Center Ticket Office or mailed to: Ferguson Center Ticket Office, Christopher Newport University, 1 Avenue of the Arts, Newport News, VA 23606-3072.
Single tickets to all performances will be available for purchase on Thursday, July 18, at 10 a.m., at the Ferguson Center Ticket Office, fergusoncenter.org or by calling toll-free (855) FERG-TIX.
