man has been charged with automobile manslaughter in connection with an early-evening crash Nov. 28 that prosecutors said led to the death of another driver.
Zachary Adam Covington, 25, was arrested over the weekend, Anne Arundel County prosecutors said. According to court information, he faces a criminal charge of negligent automobile manslaughter, and seven traffic violations.
Prosecutors said he was behind the wheel of a 2005 BMW that was weaving in and out of traffic on Route 100 near Quarterfield Road in Glen Burnie
when the car struck a 2008 Ford truck, and then 1992 Nissan Sentra. The Sentra overturned, and its driver, John Frederick Cornelius, 66, of Fort Washington, died at a hospital.
Bail was set at $500,000, according to jail officials. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Anne Arundel County Circuit Court next Monday, and a trial has been scheduled for June, according to court records.
