Anchorage soup kitchen Bean’s Cafe announced a new executive director Wednesday, succeeding the late Jim Crockett after his death last year.
Ken Miller, the development director at Bean’s, says Lisa Sauder will take over the cafe after Crockett’s 11-year tenure as the Downtown institution’s public face.
Sauder was born and raised in Anchorage, where she lives with her husband Steve and three children. She comes to the job with more than 20 years of management experience at non-profit organizations, most recently as the executive director of the American Heart Association’s Alaska division.
“I am thrilled to be joining the team at Bean’s Cafe,” Sauder said in a Wednesday statement. “The organization has a wonderful history of caring for those most in need in our community. I look forward to working with the staff and volunteers to continue the organization’s long history of service.”
Bean’s has been serving Alaskans since 1979.
