Officials at two Deadwood museums are discussing the possibility of partnering in an effort to consolidate resources.
The Black Hills Pioneer reported that a task force made up of representatives from the Days of '76 Museum and the Homestake Adams Research and Cultural Center met recently to explore joining forces.
Deadwood Historic Preservation Officer Kevin Kuchenbecker is leading the effort.
He said the task force discussed staffing, exhibits and marketing, among other things.
Kuchenbecker said the boards of the two museums are not looking to merge, but instead are looking at ways to become more efficient.
He said the discussion is still in the early stages, and the boards of each museum would still need to approve any partnership.
