Jeff and Spencer Tweedy released "Sukierae," their debut album as Tweedy, last Tuesday. They've started touring and will be at the Calvin Theatre in Northampton, Mass. tomorrow night. (I interviewed Spencer about the album and tour; read the interview here.)
The treats keep coming: scroll down to watch the new video for "Low Key," one of the best songs on the album (and that's saying something; there are a lot of great songs on "Sukierae"). The video, directed by Nick Offerman ("Parks and Recreation"), features cameos by Conan O'Brien, Andy Richter, Mavis Staples, Chance the Rapper, Glenn Kotche, Steve Albini and others.
The Tweedys appear as a couple of traveling salesmen for "Big Record Label," trying to drum up marketing funds for the new record. John Hodgman plays the label executive. There's a nifty BMW motorcycle (with sidecar -- product placement!) to help them get around, while a huge billboard looms sporting a picture of the latest boy band.
