As you might imagine, a Dutch DJ duo can bring a certain sleek Northern European style to their music, smoothing edges off EDM, trap and hardstyle. That’s at least the case with Yellow Claw.

The pair’s new single, “Invitation,” features guest vocalist Yade Lauren singing over burbling keyboard lines, steady kick drum, pinging metallic synth riffs, robotic programmed press-rolls and brief airy sections where everything fades away. The music remains hard, but polished.

On their 2015 full-length debut the duo collaborated with artists like Pusha T, DJ Mustard, Ty Dolla $ign and others. The members of Yellow Claw have long said that they can work independently, in different cities, or together in the same room. And that flexibility may have led to a whittling down of the group: The duo was a trio until June when MC Bizzey announced his departure.

If you have had doubts or uncertainties about the global dominance of dance music, know that Yellow Claw just completed some club dates in India.

Yellow Claw takes the stage at the Dome at the Oakdale, 95 S. Turnpike Road, Wallingford, Friday, July 29, at 7 p.m. Tickets are $30. Information: 203-265-1501, livenation.com.
