The Many Colors of a WOMAN has been a Hartford jazz institution for more than a quarter of a century. The organization’s latest jazz concert event is at 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, at Hartford Seminary, 77 Sherman St., Hartford.

Acts include vocalist Nicki Mathis (backed by Paul Arslanian, Jon Fisher and George Kaye), Joey Djimbe, Nyesha McCauley, Michelle McFarland, Kate Rushen and others.

The Many Colors of a WOMAN’s stated mission: “To research, discover, encourage, present and celebrate the vibrant expression of jazz and the contributions of women to this unparalleled, creative African-American art form.” $10, $5 for students and seniors.
