Pop star Vanessa Carlton, who scored a Top 5 hit with “A Thousand Miles” in 2002, released her fifth album, “Liberman,” in October. It’s her first album for the respected Canadian indie label Dine Alone Records, which also released her EP “Blue Pool” in July.

The new recording has Carlton going in a new quasi-synthpop direction. It’s been a busy few years for the artist, who married Deer Tick frontman John McCauley in 2013 and gave birth to their daughter this past January.

Carlton performs Tuesday, Dec. 8, at 7 p.m. at Fairfield Theatre Company’s Stage One space, 70 Sanford St. Tickets are $35. Information: fairfieldtheatre.org.
