Julien Baker has gone from playing coffee houses to playing concert halls, all while she was still in college. The singer writes emotionally raw and candid songs about faith, identity, empathy and doubt. Baker was just added to the bill opening for Peter Bjorn and John ($20-$22) at the College Street Music Hall in New Haven on Sept. 20 at 8 p.m. Wry, bespectacled piano man from North Carolina, Ben Folds ($39 – $49), plays College Street Music Hall on Sept. 22 at 8 p.m. Tickets go on sale Wednesday, July 13, at 10 a.m. Foals, Bear Hands and Kiev ($25) all play College Street Music Hall on Nov. 5. Tickets for that show go on sale Friday, July 15, at 10 a.m. Though the cover of Chase Rice‘s new album shows him sitting on the back of a pickup, the country singer has said he aims to transcend the trucks-and-brews themes of the genre.
