Ten years ago, blues and soul singer Taylor Hicks took top prize on the fifth season of “American Idol.” Many who followed that season pegged Hicks as the winner from his first audition, due to his charismatic performance style and powerhouse of a voice. His supporters were dubbed the “soul patrol.” Since his win, Hicks has released three albums and starred in a Broadway and touring production of “Grease.”
