After more than six years, the masked, energetic metal band Slipknot is back on the road and headed for Hartford’s Xfinity Theatre on Sunday, August 2, at 6 p.m. with a new set of songs from their 2014 release, “The Gray Chapter.”

The goal for the band’s fifth album, which is dark — even for Slipknot — is to prove that their genre is still alive and well. The almost-20-year-old band will be joined by Lamb Of God for their Summer’s Last Stand tour. LoG will be performing many of songs from the July release “VII: Sturm and Drang.”
