Slander is an L.A.-based EDM/trap duo. Nghtmre is a DJ and producer, also from L.A. Slander & Nghtmre, who have collaborated on record, have now teamed up for a bass-heavy super-tour, with loads of bottom end, hyper-cut edits, and sizzle-sounding synths and twitchy tempos. You can go online to find fans and detractors debating in detail the merits of their drops.

This is a music that is evaluated in millisecond moments. Time operates differently in this music. Counterintuitively, by cramming so many events into a beat, a listener can feel like something perceptual or metabolic slow down as the music speeds up. Trance, dubstep and hip-hop are all folded together. One snippet can test the limits of speaker capacity, with stabbing beats and machine-stamp textures. Slander and Nghtmre all met out in L.A. as music-production students, so there’s a shared aesthetic at their foundation.

Slander and Nghtmre are part of the Gud Vibrations tour stopping at the Dome at Toyota Presents Oakdale Theater, 95 S. Turnpike Road, Wallingford, Friday, Dec. 23, at 7 p.m. $23 and $35. 203-265-1501, livenation.com.
