The Sierra Leone Refugee All Stars’ latest international tour found the acclaimed vocal band in Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany in mid-August.
The U.S. leg of the tour begins with shows in Indiana and Pennsylvania, but by Sunday, Aug. 30, the Sierra Leone Refugee All Stars play Infinity Hall, 32 Front St., Hartford, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets $24 to $34.
The group was formed in Guinea by musicians who had to leave their native Sierra Leone during that country’s civil war. Besides its multi-genre upbeat sound (contained on four albums, including the recently released Libation), the members raise awareness of important social issues, such as the global health threat posed by the Ebola virus.
