Rae Sremmurd counteracted the borderline unpronounceability of their name by releasing a single, “No Flex Zone,” that was almost inescapable. The track did the impressive counterintuitive trick of bragging about not bragging.

Rae Sremmurd is a duo of brothers, Sim Jxmmi and Swae Lee — Aaquil Brown and Khalif Brown — originally from Tupelo, Miss., but they’re now out of Atlanta, where they work closely with the hip-hop giant producer and record mogul Mike Will. The pair’s newest record, “SremmLife2,” includes the track “Black Beatles,” which compares the duo to the Fab Four. (One of the pair is known to wear Lennon specs.) The video makes some funny visual quotes of Beatles history, too.

Weird, whistling high-pitched synth sounds glide through some of the Rae Sremmurd’s trippy slow tunes, like “Do Yoga,” which features the line “All my girls do yoga/Then get high at night.” Superhuman amounts of cash, weed and sex are central themes to most of their tracks. There’s something genuinely infectious, eccentric and giddy about Rae Sremmurd’s best songs and the pair’s style.

Rae Sremmurd will perform at College Street Music Hall, 238 College St., New Haven, Saturday, Oct. 22, at 8 pm. Tickets are $32 to $92. collegestreetmusichall.com.
