People might not associate Connecticut with bluegrass. It’s true, Bill Monroe wasn’t from here. But the legacy of that speedy acoustic music, with its jazzy drive and country harmonies, has taken root in the Nutmeg State.

The Podunk Bluegrass Festival has celebrated bluegrass — traditional and contemporary — since the festival began. The festival celebrates its 20th anniversary this year with a lineup of artists including the Del McCoury Band, Claire Lynch, Sierra Hull (pictured), the Alison Brown Quartet and dozens more.

The four-day festival includes camping, casual settings for playing and singing, workshops, jam sessions, crafts, food and children’s entertainment.

The Podunk Bluegrass Festival runs from Thursday through Sunday, Aug. 11 to 14, at the Hebron Lions Fairgrounds, 347 Gilead St., Hebron. A variety of tickets are available, with different levels of access, from single-day to V.I.P. and camping options, ranging from $7 to $500. podunkbluegrass.com.
