Miranda Lambert is a badass. She’ll boot you out of her show if you misbehave — so you’ve been warned.

The tabloids can leave her personal life alone though; her music gives us enough gritty details to work with. Lambert, who had a high-profile split with husband Blake Shelton, just released her new single “Vice” in July. It starts with the hiss and scratch of a needle crackling over a vinyl record and then kicks into a slow and heavy jam about longing, need and a place “where the numb meets the lonely.” Part of the refrain goes like this: “The only thing that I know how to find is another vice.” It’s not exactly a song of sunshine and smiles. Not to make odious comparisons, but as a songwriter Lambert has truckloads more gravitas than her ex-husband.

She’s sort of an heir to the Dixie Chicks and their defiant girls-can-drink-and-shoot-guns-too attitude. Having recently moved to Nashville, Lambert has been spending a lot of time writing new material, so fans have a new record to look forward to, and there’s the possibility that she’ll be testing out some fresh songs when she plays Connecticut. Just don’t get out of line.

Miranda Lambert takes the stage at Xfinity Theatre, 61 Savitt Way, Hartford, Friday, Aug. 19, at 8 p.m. Tickets are $30.75 to $60.50. livenation.com.
