Marc Anthony has been in the news lately. It’s mostly been of the tabloid variety. First he kissed ex-wife Jennifer Lopez on stage at the Latin Grammy’s the other week, and then — not long after that — it was announced that he and his wife were splitting up.

Fans, generally, are more interested in his music than in his his romantic life, though his recordings seem to conjure a sexy atmosphere of dance floors and bedrooms.

Anthony is from New York City. He’s Puerto Rican, and his salsa gestures to Afro-Cuban grooves, all held together by congas, timbales, cow bells, horns and rolling piano figures. But Anthony isn’t a traditionalist exactly, being equally at home with clubby beats, global pop or smoldering ballads. He’s a million-selling megastar, the kind of performer that just attracts attention and adulation.

Marc Anthony comes to the Grand Theater at Foxwoods, 350 Trolley Line Blvd., Mashantucket, Friday, Dec. 2, at 8 p.m., $125 to $195. foxwoods.com.
