There was a time, maybe six or seven years ago, when country-rap stood out like and odd hybrid.

Now it’s practically unavoidable on the radio — with artists like Florida Georgia Line and Blake Shelton throwing in a little rhythmic verbal something-something into their dance-floor-aspiring tunes.

Jason Aldean might be the one who started it all. His newest single, “Lights Come On,” kicks in with hints of chunky nu metal and then slides into a good-time anthem about drinking, smoking, breaking rules and hooking up. Aldean has found a way to offer a little something to rock fans, rap fans, country fans and pop fans. The blend might not be enough to satisfy die hards in any one camp, but Aldean’s music is big-tent party music, with late-night festivities being the unifying theme.

Aldean plays Mohegan Sun, 1 Mohegan Sun Blvd., Uncasville, for two shows, Friday, April 29, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, April, 30, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $79 and $99. 860-226-7711 and mohegansun.com.
