After taking a hike in the great outdoors, with maybe some sore legs, a parched throat, and a little sunburn, one deserves more than just that feeling of satisfaction that comes with exerting oneself in nature. The Hike to the Mic event has come up with a way of rewarding the trail-blazing go-getter.

Heublein Tower is a Connecticut landmark with a sweeping view of the surrounding hills of Avon, Simsbury and Bloomfield. Music, food vendors and family entertainment will be on hand, and all proceeds will go to the fund to restore the tower to the condition it was in when it was built in 1914. More than a dozen bands will perform over the course of the two-day event, including Wise Old Moon, Phonosynthesis and McLovins.

Hike to the Mic takes place Saturday, Aug. 27, from noon to 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, Aug. 28, from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Donations encouraged. Talcott Mountain Park, Summit Drive, Simsbury. (West Hartford and Bloomfield Parking available as well.) For more information visit hiketothemic.com.
