After 40 years, the Glastonbury Apple Harvest Festival needs little introduction. There will be loads of food, pony rides, a petting zoo, amusement park rides and other expected festival fare.

What’s notable this year is the addition of a major music component — 40 bands, spread out over three stages across three days — that suddenly makes it one of the state’s annual must-see music festivals. Performers include reggae band I Anbassa (pictured), rappers Klokwize and Joey Batts & Them, Americana-leaning acts like Ponybird, Oh, Cassius! and Wise Old Moon, and quite a bit more from all different genres. (Oh, and fireworks on Saturday at 8 p.m.) Admission Friday night is $3, Saturday and Sunday $5, family packs is $20.

GLASTONBURY APPLE HARVEST FESTIVAL is Friday to Sunday, Oct. 17 to 19 at Riverfront Glastonbury. Information: glastonburychamber.net.
