Nick Jonas just released his third solo album “Last Year Was Complicated” earlier this month. You may have heard the slow-bubbling single “Close,” featuring Tove Lo, which has been bouncing around since late March.

Singer Demi Lovato doesn’t need to release a new album to command loads of attention. Recently Lovato announced that she was leaving Twitter after some negative vibes started to erode her fondness for the platform. Then she promptly started tweeting again, saying she couldn’t leave her “Lovatics” (her loyal fans) hanging.

Lovato also has a new single with country singer Brad Paisley. So she’s not exactly receding into the background. The title track off of her 2015 album “Confident” is likely to replace Gary Glitter’s “Rock and Roll Part 2” as being the crowd-chant anthem at rowdy sports events of the future.

Lovato balances her songs of emotional swagger and self-help chest-thumping with lyrics that suggest a little romantic vulnerability. Her voice has a little more bite and attitude than Katy Perry or Taylor Swift.

Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas co-headline the Future Now Tour at Mohegan Sun Arena, 1 Mohegan Sun Blvd., Uncasville, on Wednesday, July 6, at 7 p.m. Tickets are $69 to $89. 860-226-7711 and mohegansun.com.
